Done & Hung!! from Heart Desire Creations

TA DAA!!! When was this project started? I have no idea, but it is thrilling to have it completed. The pattern is Lollypop Trees by Kim McLean. There are sixteen blocks, but because they are so large, 17 inches square, I chose to do only 6 blocks. It makes for a very large wall hanging!

I chose a colorway for each block: red, green, purple, blue, pink and yellow. The color fabrics were all from my stash of Kaffe fabrics, mostly scraps. I did turned edge, all hand appliqued.

Little Pieces from Heart Desire Creations

Scraps have a way of sucking me in. When I finished the Can Can quilt, there was a pile of one inch Kaffe strips. Just like many other not so sane quilters, I cut them to smaller lengths – one to 3 inch strips. I’m piecing end to end, then onto paper. Why on paper? I find it helps to keep the rows from being wonky. There are 15 blocks done and the total will be determined by how long the strips last!

CAN – CAN, the Quilt! from Heart Desire Creations

Cut, pieced, quilted and bound in five days! Amazing how much I enjoyed making this quilt. No contest when I auditioned border fabric. The bold black and white was a definite winner – perfect for all the bright, pretty and fun strings in the quilt body.

A very simple quilting – diagonal wavy lines – was perfect. I wanted this quilt to be about the fabrics, not the quilting. Kaffe Fassett in Bath, Part 2 from Telling Stories Through the Needle's Eye

The American Museum and Gardens in Bath, UK, opened its doors in 1961 for the first time at Claverton Manor. It is the only museum outside the United States dedicated to the American arts. Unfortunately, the manor part of the museum was closed for Christmas decorating, but thankfully the Kaffe Fassett exhibit was held in another building, so much to may delight, we were able to see the unique combination of old and new quilts. As promised, here are the rest of the quilts from the exhibit. We hope you enjoy them!

A couple of weeks ago, I (Kara) wrote about a lovely quilt shop, Poppy Patch, over in England, with a little teaser of the Kaffe Fasset exhibit at the American Museum in Bath, UK. Wait no more, because today and next week, I will be sharing some of the amazing antique quilts and the Kaffe Fasset reproductions of those quilts.

A Finish & a Bonus! from Heart Desire Creations

In May of 2018 I finished my Big Shabby Chic. There were lots of blocks leftover – enough for a small Hospice quilt and enough for a throw. Good news for me, another WIP is done! The long armer used a pretty swirly pattern. Unfortunately, rain outside left me no choice but to photograph this quilt indoors. It is definitely a low volume quilt and its destination is going to be as a gift.

And now for my bonus! Several years ago my daughter acquired an antique chair and had it upholstered with Kaffe fabric. I have always loved this chair ...
